Russia has warned that the Ukrainian people will suffer if the West sends tanks to support Kyiv, Reuters reports.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov’s comments come amid… ongoing discussion whether German Leopard tanks will be delivered to Ukraine.
During talks last week in Germany, the US and its allies failed to convince Berlin to provide its Leopard armored vehicles to Ukraine – key request from Kyiv for his fight against the Russian forces.
Berlin has said it will move quickly to allow allies to send their Leopard tanks to Ukraine if a consensus is reached. Even this assurance, however, seemed unconvincing.
Asked about this incident, Peskov pointed out that disagreements in Europe over whether to provide tanks to Kyiv show that there is growing “nervousness” in NATO.
“But, of course, all countries that participate – directly or indirectly, in pumping Ukraine with weapons and increasing its technological level, are responsible (for the continuation of the conflict),” he stressed.
