Kosovo has moved one step closer to the visa-free regime with the EU

The decision of the member states still needs to be approved by the European Parliament (EP).

“Kosovo has made great efforts to improve its security and migration management and align its visa policy with EU policy,” Swedish Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergaard said.

According to the new rules, which could enter into force from 2024, people with a Kosovo passport will be able to travel freely in the EU without a visa and stay in the EU for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

The EP could approve the new rules in April.
