Pellegrino: «Early identifying cardiovascular diseases is a priority»

«Cardiovascular disease represents a significant public health challenge, both globally and nationally. In Italy, these pathologies are responsible for 37% of deathswith particular attention to severe aortic stenosis, which has a mortality rate two years after diagnosis higher than 95%. According to statistics, approx 12.5% of the Italian population over 65 years old suffers from valvular diseases, a fact that underlines the importance of an early and accurate diagnosis. In order to face these challenges and improve health with particular reference to cardiovascular pathologies in our region, I presented a question to the regional council with the aim of promoting communication initiatives for the early diagnosis of heart valve pathologies and the adoption of a Diagnostic Therapeutic Care Plan (PDTA) regional updated with the latest minimally invasive techniques in particular for the treatment of aortic valve stenosis, which represents the most common heart valve disease in adults». She declared it Tommaso Pellegrinogroup leader of Italia Viva in the regional council, during today’s question time.

«The Campania region – added Pellegrino – is facing particular challenges, with incidence rates among the highest in Italy relating to ischemic heart and cerebrovascular diseases. However, thanks to minimally invasive techniques, effective heart valve replacement operations and rapid dehospitalization are possible. Simple auscultation of the heart or instrumental tests such as electrocardiogram and echocardiography can often identify these pathologies in a timely manner, allowing targeted and appropriate medical intervention».

«Cardiovascular health is a priority and, with concrete actions and collective commitment, we can work to improve the early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, ensuring a better quality of life for everyone and supporting the Campania healthcare system burdened by passive mobility for valve replacement interventions are particularly high, ranking among the top five with an estimated total cost of 8.8 million euros». concluded the leader of Italia Viva.
