By approval of MinSalud, specialists who are treating patients infected with Coronavirus will be able to use two drugs that could potentially help combat the damage caused by the virus in patients.
These are chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, two drugs with proven efficacy in patients suffering from moderate and severe pneumonia. However, it should be clarified that neither of these eliminates the virus from the body. So far, there is no vaccine against Coronavirus.
In the case of these two drugs, they have shown experimental effectiveness in slowing down the development of the disease or reducing the level of the virus in the body. For this reason, the Ministry of Health gave the guarantee to health professionals to visit them as treatment, if they consider it to be so.

Does it have risks?
As the newspaper El Tiempo compiled from an investigation by the National University of Colombia, it ensures that the chloroquine used for coronaviruses can cause cardiac disorders, hematological problems and hypoglycemia.
For this reason, it is that only specialists can access the medicines and apply them to patients affected by the Coronavirus. They must be constantly monitored to prevent the medicine from seriously triggering heart problems for the patient. The caveat is that you cannot self-medicate.
