The trial against the knife man from Würzburg begins on April 22nd.
The district court of Würzburg approved the application by the Munich public prosecutor’s office, the court said. About 30 process days are planned until the end of September. The hearing will take place at three locations outside the Würzburg Justice Center because the largest room there is too small for a corona-compliant process.
The perpetrators are paranoid schizophrenic according to reports
A Somali is accused. According to the Attorney General’s Office, he killed three women with a kitchen knife and injured nine people in downtown Würzburg on June 25, 2021. According to two psychiatric experts, the refugee was innocent at the time of the crime and was paranoid schizophrenic. Voices in his head would have ordered him to do it.
The presumably 33-year-old man – the investigators do not know for sure – is accused of murder in three cases and attempted murder in eleven cases. A security procedure involves the indefinite placement in a closed ward of a psychiatric hospital.
