Klopp curse after letter request: Liverpool lose in the FA Cup too

Liverpool have lost – again. What seemed impossible until a few weeks ago has now become reality three times within a very short time. And of all after a small fan of Liverpool rival Manchester United asked Jürgen Klopp and his team for it.

In February a letter had become public in which ten-year-old Daragh turned to Klopp. Daragh says that he is currently not enjoying the fact that he is a Manchester United fan as Liverpool win game after game and are well on their way to winning the championship in England.

Klopp replied at the time and told Daragh that he could not fulfill his wish. “Unfortunately, as much as you want Liverpool to lose, I can’t comply with your request. My job is to do everything to make Liverpool win as there are millions of people in the world who want that,” wrote the 52-year-old, among other things.

Then came the message from the young ManU fan – and with it the defeats. In the league, Liverpool lost for the first time last weekend after 44 games without a bankruptcy (!) In social media, Daragh is celebrated after the Liverpool bankruptcies, called “legend” and “hero”.

Despite the defeats, Klopp is relaxed. “I’m not worried about the momentum,” said the German coach after the trophy out on Tuesday evening. “You don’t get momentum, you have to get it to hold it. And we can get it back at any time.”

In the league, Liverpool is now at the top of the table with a lead of 22 points over the first chaser Manchester City. The first championship title after 30 years can hardly be taken from the “Reds” – even if some ten-year-olds hope for something else.
