Starting today, all travelers from the United States must enter The Netherlands in quarantine. This has some consequences for KLM.
The Dutch government has designated the United States as a very high-risk area. According to the new travel advice The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required to quarantine all travelers, whether vaccinated or not. Furthermore, passengers must have a test taken before the flight departs. KLM sees the new measures as ‘a big step back’.
KLM wonders whether the new obligations ‘be effective and proportional‘. Other European countries do not seem to be taking the same measures against the increasing number of infections in the US. Due to the measures, the company is forced to adjust the winter planning. New flights to Orlando, Miami and Las Vegas were planned. The flights would be operated from October 31, 2021 to March 26, 2022, but these have been postponed until further notice due to the new measures.
