Kirchhof’s attack doesn’t get going at 20:25 against Harrislee

This time the mortgage was too big. The burden of a 9:13 break was too heavy to turn things around in the second half. What happened a week ago in Freiburg at 23:22, went wrong against TSV Nord Harrislee. Instead of saying goodbye with the second success in a row from the relegation zone of the 2nd handball Bundesliga (for the time being), the SG 09 Kirchhof is still in the thick of it after the 20:25 (9:13) home bust.

Melsungen – “We beat ourselves,” said SG trainer Martin Denk about the setback with 25 missed throws by his protégés. However, they had a name or a clear cause: the outstanding TSV goalkeeper Fasold, against whom even the by no means disappointing Nela Zuzic pale. The fact that the 27-year-old “was always in the corner where we threw it” (Denk) explained the native of Munich with an extensive video study: “This preparation helped me a lot.”

The rest was taken care of by their front men. With an aggressive 6-0 cover including a highly flexible center block, against which the hosts’ attack found it difficult from the start. After all, the backcourt strategist Sabljak showed herself to be much better (and no nerves from the point) and Jana Schaffrick knew how to effectively assert herself several times at the circle. So the SG stayed on until 9:10 (23rd), before Harrislee pulled away with a 3-0 intermediate sprint at halftime to 13: 9. Not long for Kirchhof’s goalkeeper Zuzic, but her parades against the strong duel Jeß and playmaker Volquardsen remained unrefined.

Frederikke Siggaard, who came on after 39 minutes, had this experience when Karlotta Jeß’s goal to make it 11:18 “smelled” after the early decision. But then the think team came back again.

Catching up by goalkeeper Fasold stopped

Led by Diana Sabljak, who put more pressure in the middle and had a grateful buyer in Schaffrick, in particular, a successful race to catch up started at 14:19 (44th) and 18:20 (51st). Suddenly interrupted, however, by Fasold’s 17th parade, which brought the briefly unsettled guest back on track.

Its second wave now worked again, while the opponent had simply deleted this means for simple goals from his repertoire. Furthermore, the late efforts to consolidate the offensive remained piecemeal because left-hander Klara Schlegel (“The goalkeeper from Harrislee adjusted very well to my litters and I reacted much too late”) simply didn’t get going. Teammate Sabljak had a little understanding for this: “When an opposing goalkeeper holds so much, you get to ponder when you finish.” That also applied to Kirchhof’s outside, whose rate was only slightly higher. Which made Sophie Fasold feel like a “match winner”.
