What better way to shorten the time to the local start date of “Godzilla Vs. Kong” than with a hearty monster fight in the home theater? “Godzilla: A City On The Edge Of Battle” promises to deliver. Here is the trailer:

“Godzilla is now biting the grass!” Shouts one of the human characters, sure of victory in the trailer for “Godzilla: A City on the Edge of Battle”. Will that actually be the case at the end of this anime cracker, which is partly wonderfully epic in the trailer? We have our doubts about that.

After all, this is only the second part of a trilogy. The first part “Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters” was released for home theater in mid-April and the grand finale “Godzilla: Destroyer of the World” is scheduled for June 17, 2021.

While all three parts have been on Netflix since 2017 and 2018 respectively, Kaiju fans without a subscription were left out. That will change on May 20, 2021, when “Godzilla: A City on the Edge of Battle” will be available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Koch Media publishes the action adventure in the form of a stylish “Collector’s Edition” and with a new, German synchronization. Both configurations of the FSK-12 title can already be pre-ordered from Amazon and other online retailers.

This is what Godzilla: A City on the Edge of Battle is all about

20,000 years ago, humanity lost the war against the monsters. The few survivors fled the earth in spaceships and left the planet to the king of gigantic critters: Godzilla.

But now a group of adventurers has made their way to earth to recapture it. As they try to defeat the most powerful of all creatures with the help of a robotic weapon believed to be lost – the legendary MechaGodzilla – they realize that there still seems to be human life on the planet …

Director and speaker

Hiroyuki Seshita and Kôbun Shizuno were responsible for staging all three parts. While Hiroyuki Seshit has already delighted genre lovers with films such as “Levius” and “Blame!”, His colleague is best known for his significant involvement in the popular “Detective Conan” series.

Meanwhile, experienced anime and cartoon speakers were on the microphone for the newly recorded German synchro version exclusively for the home theater release. These include Arne Stephan (“Demon Slayer”), Peter Flechtner (“Kokkoku: Moment for Moment”) and Tim Schwarzmaier (“Dr. Stone: Stone Wars”, “Saint Seiya: The Zodiac Warriors”).
