Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac reacted after the Enforcement Directorate filed a case against Kifbi. Thomas Isaac challenged Kifby not to give the ED a chuckle. If you feel like getting hit, you will face it. Thomas Isaac announced on Facebook that there will be a news conference at 12 noon today.
The ED is preparing for a detailed investigation into the sale of masala bonds abroad for Kifby projects. The case is for accepting foreign funds without central approval. Kifby CEO KM Abraham and Deputy CEO have been sent ED notices to appear for questioning. The ED has said it will question him next week. Enforcement is likely to question Thomas Isaac as well. It is in this context that Thomas Isaac has come up with the response.
The ED case was registered on the basis of the CAG report. During the preliminary investigation, the ED found widespread irregularities in Kifby’s activities. With the Assembly elections looming, the ED’s move is a setback for the government.
