Khimki head coach Andrei Talalaev, in an interview with Match TV, called the behavior of people who laughed at the patriotic actions of the pro-Moscow football club blasphemy.
Last year, Khimki printed images of the Russian flag and the St. George ribbon on their game uniforms. The Moscow region club said that at the MIR RPL 2022/23 home match with the Voronezh Fakel, the team earned about a million rubles and will send these funds to help those mobilized.

— Sport is outside of politics, in my opinion. But in the situation our country is in, we cannot ignore all this. And laughing at this is blasphemy. Again, this is the position of each individual person within, but football people are an example for the youth and the general public. In any case, we must express a certain position, just not make it the cornerstone. Football cannot have a political face; it must first of all have a sporting face.
The quality of work, relationships, contact with that category of viewers who were in opposition to us – these are the criteria that define us today. We are gradually building a dialogue with everyone, we have a new wave of viewers. Yes, there are still “Kuzmichi” that were there during my first visit to “Khimki”. Yes, there was a slight confrontation because something had become different from what everyone liked, because of the position of our curator. We know Teryushkov’s rather bright ideology, he voices it. But people come to the stadium to get positive emotions and express theirs. So no one should cross the line: neither football players, nor spectators, nor managers who form public opinion in relation to the club, Talalaev is quoted as saying by the Match TV website.
