Kesteris: Relationships, Marriage, and Finding Happiness

As is known, ķesteris was married to Leonarda Ķesteris and was then in a relationship with actresses.

Asked why he hasn’t married a second time, ķesteris is laconic: “A fatalist.”

“I’ve proposed three times and then changed my mind.

And not because I doubted a woman, I doubt myself – could it be the real and golden one, as my teacher Pēteris Lūcis said.

That I won’t be the one. Once someone asked: do you think that a woman can make you happy if you are not happy yourself? And it was like a bottle to the head.”

Kesteris says that he likes that the relationship is “managed” by a woman, but sometimes it is desirable to have a corner that is just for him, where there is no need to bring order. And it’s good if a woman understands that “I won’t hold hands and watch a movie together while sitting on the couch.”

The actor, who will turn 60 next year, believes that a person is not destined to be alone and that age does not matter in a relationship. He also said he felt the need to take care of someone.
