Kasselakis from Heraklion: “We want a state, a society with human rights without asterisks” – 2024-04-07 13:30:17

“The time has come for the Greek state to become interventionist, efficient and to solve the great problems of the Greek people” said the president SYRIZA – PS Stefanos Kaselakisat the beginning of the meeting with the productive bodies in Heraklion.

Mr. Kasselakis stated that in this direction “the European elections are the trigger, for the alternative progressive solution that the country is asking for, with a renewed SYRIZA, with a team that will be able to demonstrate empathy, ethics and technocratic competence”.

Addressing those gathered in Agios Titos Square in the center of the city, Stefanos Kasselakis thanked for the warm welcome, as he said, saying that this is what gives him strength to continue.

“Thank you for the welcome. As I have told you many times, this is the only thing that inspires me and gives me the strength to continue. That’s why I will never betray you. I will not betray you means, first of all, that I will continue to listen to the members of SYRIZA PS, i.e. the basis of the party” said Stefanos Kasselakis, denouncing the “propaganda mud of the ND” and the attempt to “assassin his character” “as they had tried to do the same with Alexis Tsipras”.

“The people are not sheep in the fold, like the 157 ND MPs who shamelessly applauded Kostas Karamanlis when he appeared and lied to the Greek people, that there were no warnings about the crime of Tempos,” said Stefanos Kasselakis.

He said that “our country was condemned by Europe for the rule of law, not because SYRIZA was able to convince and mobilize 330 MEPs, but because the rest of Europe sees what the Greek citizen experiences every day”.

He pointed out that “we want a state, a society with human rights without asterisks” while he emphasized that what is also requested is equality of opportunity “so that a child born here in Crete can have the same opportunities as anyone born in Athens” .

Regarding foreign policy, he said that “we want a country with a moderate foreign policy, which will belong to the West, but does not get involved in America’s adventures without control and without accountability to the Greek citizen” and furthermore a country with security .

“Crime in our country has escaped” said Stefanos Kasselakis, adding that “the Greek police structurally needs reconstruction” while repeating the proposal that the leadership of the Police should be decided by the Hellenic Parliament “so that there can be trust between citizens and the Police ».

As far as defense security is concerned, he said that with the SYRIZA “there will be no waste in defense spending as with the ND” pointing out however that “the security of the Greek citizen is non-negotiable” and added that “whoever doubts this, let him see the term of the SYRIZA government with Defense Minister Evangelos Apostolakis, who he honors me with his presence here.”

Regarding the European elections, he characterized them as important, since Europe, as he pointed out, directly affects the lives of Greeks as well, clarifying however that “we need to have a Europe that will be social, in terms of its fiscal policy” as well as that these elections are important” as they will determine the outlook for a large democratic party”.

During his greeting, Stefanos Kasselakis launched an attack on ND and PASOK, saying:

“Five years of PASOK and ND memoranda before the SYRIZA government left zero euros in the coffers of the country. Five years of SYRIZA administration left 37 billion euros in the coffers of the country,” said Mr. Kasselakis, while asking for the support of the Cretans in the upcoming elections.

“With respect to the democratic history of this place, I ask for your support for SYRIZA – PS to become a great democratic faction of our country, in the next parliamentary elections” said Stefanos Kasselakis, who, concluding his short greeting, clarified that he has confidence in society and for this reason “we have opened our ballot to you, the friends and members of SYRIZA so that you can choose who you want to represent SYRIZA on our ballot for the European elections and not the clique of the president”.

Immediately after, the president of SYRIZA PS, accompanied by the Member of State and Head of National Defense Evangelos Apostolakis, the Member of Parliament of Heraklion Haris Mamoulakis as well as local officials of the party, continued his walk through the main streets of the city, talking to citizens.
