J1 Kashiwa defeated J2 Kumamoto 4-0, advancing to the finals for the first time in 11 tournaments since winning in 2012.
Nine minutes into the game, Kashiwa midfielder Shoro Toshima headed a cross from U-22 Japan National Team FW Masahiro Hosoya from deep left of the penalty area to take the lead. Hosoya, the ace candidate for the 2024 Paris Olympics team, achieved a comfortable victory with one goal and one assist. Kumamoto, who had defeated Tosu, FC Tokyo, and Kobe in three consecutive games in this tournament, did not allow a “giant killing.”
