Karyavattam International ODI: News of Entertainment Tax Increase Is Not True, Says Minister MB Rajesh | Kerala | Deshabhimani

Thiruvananthapuram > Minister MB Rajesh said the media reports that the local self-government department has drastically increased the entertainment tax for ODIs are not true. The local self-government department reduced the show tax from 24% to 50% to 12%. The tax rate was fixed after discussions with Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and Kerala Cricket Association, the organisers, with the consent of both parties.

The entertainment tax was reduced from 24% to 5% for the latest international cricket match held in Kariyavatta. A large concession was made at the time as the stadium had not played for a long time and it was difficult for the organizers to prepare the stadium for the match. As the situation has changed, the same level of relaxation is not yet needed. However, the minister added that the entertainment tax has been reduced to 12% even for the current competition.
