Karen Damen opens pop-up store with her sister

showbizLast weekend Karen Damen (47) and her sister Kirsten opened their pop-up shop ‘Kristina Knitwear’ in Boechout together. There, fans could physically get to know the sisters’ own clothing collection for the first time.

The Damen sisters already launched their own collection via a webshop on 13 October: “After a successful start, we received more questions from people to feel or see the clothing in real life. That’s how the idea arose to organize a pop-up,” Kirsten tells Het Nieuwsblad.

All their garments are inspired by women from their environment: “The pieces were given the names of women from our circle of friends who inspire us. But the woman who inspires us the most is of course our mom, Christina. Because our two first names start with a K, we chose ‘Kristina Knitwear’ as the brand name.”

A whole new world opened up for Karen thanks to her sister: “I couldn’t have done this without my sister,” she says. “She has the passion and the knowledge while I can provide a large reach. We complement each other perfectly. It is very nice and we are already working on a second collection. But we don’t put a deadline on it. If we have something nice, we will launch it,” Karen announces.
