North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak opened his voice regarding the existence of a sum of money from the wife of a drug dealer who is said to have flowed into Medan Police Chief Kombes Riko Sunarko. Panca promised to take firm action against Riko if he is proven to have accepted bribes.
“I will not hesitate to take firm action against the Medan Police Chief if he is proven to have committed as described by the defendants,” said Panca to reporters, Saturday (15/1/2022).
Panca said he had formed a team to investigate this case. The team is currently working.
“I have formed a joint Propam and Criminal Investigation team to investigate Rikardo’s statement,” he said.
Panca explained that the information presented by the defendant in court, which stated that Riko received money from a drug dealer’s wife, was not found during the police investigation.
“That in the examination of the case files, both those handled by Propam and Ditreskrimum, the person concerned did not explain what was conveyed at the PN trial. This is also a material for deepening,” he said.
This case began with the National Police Headquarters Propam who intervened to check the news that a number of police officers at the Medan Polrestabes were said to have received Rp 300 million from the wives of drug dealers in a trial for drug possession by members of the Medan Polrestabes Satreskoba. Medan Police Chief Kombes Riko Sunarko is also said to have received Rp 75 million.
“I don’t want to comment on the trial material. I have ordered the Karo Paminal Propam Polri to check with the Head of Propam Polda North Sumatra,” said Kadiv Propam Polri Inspector General Ferdy Sambo when asked for confirmation, Friday (14/1).
From the information gathered, in a trial held at the Medan District Court, a police official at the Medan Polrestabes was said to have received a bribe of Rp. 300 million from the wife of a drug dealer. The money was allegedly distributed to the Narcotics Officer Medan Police Station amounting to Rp. 150 million to the Narcotics Head of the Medan Polrestabes Rp. 40 million.
