Kaiserslautern – The heavily indebted third division soccer team 1. FC Kaiserslautern has missed the hoped-for entry into the second round of the DFB Cup and thus important additional income.

The Palatinate were defeated by the second division SSV Jahn Regensburg 3: 4 on penalties and were eliminated. After 120 minutes, it was 1: 1 (0: 1, 1: 1) in front of almost empty stands in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion.

Under the eyes of 1954 world champion Horst Eckel, the Regensburg team took the lead in the 4th minute through Albion Vrenezi, which Kevin Kraus (64th) equalized after the change. In the extension, Regensburg’s Nicolas Wähling (92nd) saw the yellow-red card. Shortly thereafter, Kraus hit again, but the hit was not recognized because the shooter was supposedly offside.

So it went to the penalty shootout, in which the guests had better nerves. Goalkeeper Alexander Meyer became the match winner for Regensburg with two saved shots.
