KAI Responds to the Polemic on the Ban on Boarding and Face Recognition

Jakarta

A viral tweet stated that new travelers were allowed to enter the train boarding area 10 minutes before departure. This rule applies if you have not registered face recognition. KAI then denied the news.

Seen by detikJabar Monday (20/11/2023), the @fc******ar account on Sunday (19/11) told of an unpleasant experience. It is known that the account owner responded to several questions confirming that the location of the incident was at Bandung Station.

“Which steps Those using facial recognition can only enter the boarding area 10 minutes before the train departs. Very funny @KAI121. “I really want to force people to collect data like this,” he wrote.

In the thread, he included a photo of a queue of train passengers who were said to be required to register for facial recognition.

Not only did he regret the snaking queue, he said there was an explanation from the officer that passengers without facial recognition could only enter 10 minutes before the train departed.

According to him, this makes passengers rush to register and are afraid of missing the train.

“As a result, there was a long queue to register first. They said, ‘The SOP is like that, those who don’t use facial recognition can only enter 10 minutes before the train leaves’. Those who used facial recognition rushed to their trains, because the queue to register was really long,” he tweeted. .

Until now, the detikJabar team has not received a response from the account owner regarding the detailed chronology of the incident.

KAI Daop 2 Bandung response

Meanwhile, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Mahendro Trang Bawono, said that his party had received a report regarding a complaint from one of the train users.

However, he denied that train customers who do not register for facial recognition can only board 10 minutes before departure.

“We can convey that the information in the post regarding boarding at Bandung Station on one of the social media platforms (X) is not true. Train customers, both those who have registered using the face scanning system and those who are still using the manual boarding system, are allowed “boarding starts 3 hours before the scheduled train departure,” said Mahendro in his statement, Monday (30/11/2023).

He explained that there was a misunderstanding between the boarding officer and security who were directing the passengers. Representing the Bandung Station, he also apologized.
