KAI Implements New Policy for Long-distance Train Passengers Starting July 29, 2021, Note the Rules

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta again made adjustments to boarding requirements long -distance train (KAJJ) which came into effect July 29, 2021.

The policy makes PT KAI must temporarily limit prospective passengers under 12 years of age.

“Passengers of this age can only depart if they have special or urgent needs,” said the Head of Public Relations PT KAI Eva Chairunisa through his statement, Friday (30/7/2021).

In the region PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, this regulation is applied to long-distance train trips from either the station Gambir, Monday Market, Bekasi, Karawang, and Cikampek.

The purpose of this policy, said Eva, is to reduce the number of exposures Covid-19 towards children.

“As a form of PT KAI’s commitment to support the Government’s steps in preventing the spread of Covid-19 through Emergency PPKM,” he said.

The exception is that prospective train passengers under the age of 12 can travel by train if there is an urgent need.

However, he said, it must still be accompanied by a certificate from the local government (Lurah/RW/RT), hospitals, schools, and others.

For example, prospective passengers under 12 years of age with an urgent need, namely participating in a math olympiad competition in another city, must bring a certificate from the school.
