The road to the ninth Series A title in a row is running in fits and starts for Juventus. With more luck than wisdom against challenger Atalanta Bergamo a point was pulled out of the fire and also against Sassuolo it went anything but smoothly: Italy’s number 8 bent a 0-2 deficit, but still had to settle for a point.
Juventus initially seemed on the way to a problem-free victory: after less than fifteen minutes it was already 0-2, thanks to two assists of future FC Barcelona player Miralem Pjanic. Danilo shot a rehearsal corner from the second line and Gonzalo Higuaín got free passage after a deep pass from the Bosnian.

Sassuolo did not give up and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny had to go to extremes several times. After half an hour of play, however, the ball fell at the feet of Filip Djuricic, after a knock in the sixteen meters: Szczesny could not do anything this time and the old sc Heerenveen-known brought back the tension in the match.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a good chance at half-time and Sassuolo started the second half in good spirits. It went fast: in minute 64 there was suddenly a 3-3 score on the plates. Domenico Berardi curled a free kick over the wall, Francesco Caputo slipped into the 3-2 at the second post and Alex Sandro headed in the 3-3 unhindered shortly after.

Both teams had excellent chances of victory in the final phase. On the one hand, Ronaldo met goalkeeper Andrea Consigli, on the other side Szczesny was put to work again by Hamed Junior Traorè. The afterthrow fell at the feet of Jérémie Boga, but his effort was taken away from the goal line. Mehdi Bourabia tried from distance from injury time, but Szczesny stood out again. However, it remained at 3-3 in the Mapei Stadium, allowing Matthijs de Ligt and his colleagues to breathe a sigh of relief.

SS Lazio drew 0-0 against Udinese and missed the opportunity to get closer. Atalanta is currently the closest attacker, seven points away. Internazionale will still play against SPAL on Thursday and can come six points from the leader. Juventus plays against pursuer Lazio on Monday.
