June starts with 97 new positive cases of COVID-19 that already total 3,873



June started this Monday with 97 new unique positive cases of COVID-19 which already number 3,873, while the number of deaths from the virus remains at 136 after no additional deaths were recorded in Puerto Rico, confirmed the Health Department.

“At the time of issuing the report, the Surveillance System did not record deaths, while the Demographic Registry also reported no deaths using clinical criteria and documented by a medical professional in death certificates, as suggested by the guidelines of the Center for Control and Disease Prevention, “the agency said in its daily report.

Given that, the deaths registered through the Surveillance System total 63 and those reported by the Demographic Registry remain at 73.

Of the 97 new cases, none were processed by means of molecular tests, so the total of positive results obtained by these examinations remains at 1,304. However, the number of positives from serological tests increased to 2,569. Of this universe of cases, 1,959 correspond to women and 1,914 to men.

On the other hand, the number of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 remained at 99, of which nine are confined in an intensive care unit and four are connected to an artificial respirator. To date, the country’s hospitals have 3,489 beds and 854 artificial respirators available for adults.

San Juan remains as the municipality with the most reported cases with 560, followed by Bayamón (234) and Guaynabo (202). More than two months after the start of the emergency, Salud still does not have the town of 109 cases. As for the regions, the Metro is the one with the highest incidence of the disease with 1,070 infected. It is followed by the Bayamón region (745), Caguas (523) and Ponce (510).

Meanwhile, the 50-59 age group remains the most positive at 784, followed by the 40-49 age group (681) and the 30-39 age group (610).
