This development does not present a risk in the eyes of Doctor Julien Cottet, President of the Council of the Order of Physicians of Eure-et-Loir:
“With the context in which we are, I think that the decision is up to everyone. There are still many people with comorbidities who are stressed and anxious. This must be respected and they can continue to wear a mask if they wish. Otherwise, from a general point of view in terms of medical recommendations, the end of the mask for all is a welcome measure, a good thing. »
“We have a step back”
The doctor specifies: “We can clearly see that the epidemic is more than receding and that the last variant, Omicron, is a variant which can cause pharyngitis, an ENT disease, not a lung disease. We are reassured on that. Look at the other countries that have dropped the mask for several weeks. It’s going very well, we have a step back. Epidemiologically speaking and with this variant, there is no concern for the removal of the mask. »

The mask remains however an interesting tool, in the future, to limit the various contaminations, according to doctor Julien Cottet:
“After Covid, people will have to understand that when they are sick and go to work, they wash their hands and put on a mask for 24 to 48 hours to protect others. It should become a habit so as not to transmit gastro, the flu… As in Asia for example. It is a useful tool, beyond the Covid. »
