Judge allegedly demanded $3,000 bribe from defendant to execute court order

Nationals.- Dalia Nicole Camacho Reyes denounced that Judge Leidys Romero allegedly demanded $3,000 from her to execute a measure that corresponded to her by law.

Said complaint was filed before the General Inspectorate of Courts according to a document exhibited by Camacho Reyes.

The complainant explained that Romero, being a provisional judge of the 2nd Criminal Trial Court of La Guaira, requested the delivery of 3,000 dollars “to be able to execute the order dated July 18, 2019, main case file No. WP01P201400364 where evidence is that I was entitled to the benefit of the work detachment.”

Romero recounted in the communication that “because I did not have the aforementioned amount of money, I was detained for practically three more years; I was released on June 27, 2022 in an operation carried out at the National Institute for Women’s Orientation (Inof)”.

At the end of the communication, Romero pointed out that “perhaps three thousand dollars is a small amount and does not cause a scandal like recent events… but little by little injustice is also being committed.”
