Borgholzhausen. Whoever Jost Kobusch’s mountaineering career has so far mainly in Haller Kreisblatt can now get even closer to the young Piumer. Of the Spiegel has the half hour Spiegel TV / Arte-Document “Ascent on Mount Everest: Alone to the highest peak in the world” is now available on the video platform YouTube.

The documentary, which appeared last year on the Franco-German channel Art was shown, follows the extreme mountaineer on his solo Himalaya expedition, which he completed at 7,360 meters without climbing the summit. Kobusch is grateful for the recent media attention, as the corona pandemic has put a line in all of his expedition plans. Of the Spiegel Youtube has more than a million subscribers, the documentary already around 300,000 views.

Kobusch has already announced a new attempt

The ascent shown should not have been Kobusch’s last attempt. In conversation with the Haller Kreisblatt he already announced when it is possible to try again. The next time he doesn’t dare hope to reach the actual summit either. Instead, he wants to continue exploring routes to break the 8,000 meter mark.

He hopes to be successful on a third expedition in a few years. Jost Kobusch’s self-imposed task differs from that of most Everest conquerors: He wants to conquer the highest mountain on earth in winter, alone, without special oxygen equipment.

During those months he actually wanted to climb Denali (formerly Mount McKinley), the highest mountain in North America. Nothing came of it.
