President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested that the price of the corona virus (Covid-19) test using the polymerase chain reaction method (PCR) was lowered in the range of Rp. 450 thousand to Rp. 550 thousand.
“I have spoken to the Minister of Health about this, I ask that the cost of the PCR test is in the range of Rp. 450,000 to Rp. 550,000,” said Jokowi, quoted on the Presidential Secretariat’s Youtube channel, Sunday (15/8).
Jokowi emphasized that testing or examination is one way to deal with COVID-19. Therefore, lowering the price of the standard PCR test as an effort to increase testing in the community.
“In addition, so that the results of the PCR test can be known, the results can be known 1×24 hours. We need speed,” said Jokowi.
It is known, the price of the corona virus PCR test is still relatively expensive to be reached by the lower middle class. The Indonesian Ministry of Health had set the highest limit for the PCR test, which was Rp. 900 thousand.
