Amazon knows that comedy formats can do well, not least because of “LOL: Last One Laughing”, which was recently extended by a further season after extremely good viewing figures for the fourth season. Accordingly, it is not entirely surprising that the first German original on the free sister platform Freevee also goes into this area. However, the focus is not exclusively on live comedy, but on a mix of formats, as well as on two fresh and yet well-known names. In some circles they are, at least, because I’ve never heard them before and have probably already disqualified myself for the new production (reason: too old).
JokaH Tululu has over 750,000 subscribers alone on his YouTube channelwhere he became known with “relationship test” couple quiz videos, especially among the younger target group. Tutty Tran is a Vietnamese-German stand-up comedian and mainly plays with intercultural clichés, which has earned him the “Nightwash Talent Award 2017”, among other things. In addition, he was already seen in the series “semi-detached house”. Together they are “Jokah & Tutty”.

The new comedy show on Amazon Freevee is said to be a “unique mix of stand-up, live and sketch comedy” that “negotiates socially relevant issues with a great deal of humor and irony, shows perspectives of minorities and exposes prejudices – and that too some finger is put in the political correctness wound”. Changing the format sounds like a change, whereby the live part in particular should tip the scales as to how original it will ultimately be. As for the “political correctness wound”, I’m personally not sure in which direction this statement is to be interpreted – the humor can be black, but I can’t yet whether this is a tribute to modern progressive thinking or whether it punishes it fully recognize. I have a rather bad feeling about that, but as long as everyone gets something and it stays fair…
The two won’t do it alone, but will be supported by acting (including Christian Tramitz, Oliver Korritke and Gregor Bloeb) and comedy (Idil Baydar, Nico Stank, Erika Ratcliffe and Osan Yaran).

The first season of the new comedy show “Jojah & Tutty” will consist of ten episodes and will be released “End of 2023” on Amazon Freevee in Germany and Austria.
