Vanessa Paradis and Winona Ryder assisted their ex-partner Johnny Depp in an English courtroom. The actor has The Sun. previously charged with defamation.
The British tabloid released Depp in April 2018 wife beater (someone who hits women). The reason for the reporting was Depp’s quarrel with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Heard accuses Depp of abusing her. Both Paradis and Ryder have said in court that this is hard to believe, write Deadline.
Paradis, who was in a relationship with Depp between 1999 and 2012 and had two children with him, informed the judge that she knows her ex as a kind, considerate and generous person who does not use violence.
Ryder, who was in a relationship with Depp in the early 1990s, spoke similar words. “I just can’t understand what Heard is saying. Johnny was never, ever violent to me.”
The statements of the two women were in writing and were read by Depp’s lawyer at a Wednesday hearing. The case will continue on 7 July.
Couple was married for a year
33-year-old Heard and 55-year-old Depp met on the set of the film released in 2011 The Rum Diary. The two were married in 2015 and divorced the following year. Shortly afterwards, Heard filed a lawsuit in which she accused her ex of assault. However, there was no hard evidence and the two reached a settlement.
Two years later, the actress told in an article The Washington Post to be a victim of domestic violence. She didn’t mention Depp’s name, but the actor sued Heard for slander. He also claimed to have been abused by her, but Heard denies that. The actress also sued her ex for defamation.
