Ola John returns to the Grolsch Veste on Friday evening. The former FC Twente player does this with RKC Waalwijk, which is visiting Enschede. John played 69 games for FC Twente.
John is not indifferent to his return to Enschede. “For me that is certainly special”, says the now 28-year-old John in conversation with The Telegraph. FC Twente still feels like my club. It’s just a shame that fans can’t be there. I had a very good relationship with the supporters. I never forgot how they always sang ‘Ola Olé’ to me. “
John looks back on his time in Enschede with a positive feeling. “For me that is still the best time. I already got a lot of playing minutes under Michel Preud’homme, but Co Adriaanse really gave me the chance. Just like he gave Steven Berghuis the chance.”
“I have always kept in touch with Steven”, the attacker continues. “I am very proud of him and how he has developed. I think he can go one step further and I can see him take the Golden Boot this season. He is doing so well.”
