Joe Biden fears more covid deaths if Donald Trump does not collaborate in transition – The Economic Journal

President-elect of states, Democrat Joe Biden, said today that “more people are likely to die” because of the pandemic if the current President, Republican Donald Trump, continues to block the transition process.

If there is no collaboration from the Trump administration to unblock succession at the White House, “it is possible that more people will die” infected with SARS-CoV-2, warned Biden, exemplifying the urgency of preparing to distribute a possible vaccine.

“If we have to wait until January 20 [dia para o qual está agendada a tomada de posse do próximo Presidente] to start planning, it makes us start a month, a month and a half late, ”added the Democrat, while speaking in Wilmington, Delaware.

For this reason, “it is so important that this coordination” between the current US administration and the next one begins “now or as soon as possible”, insisted the President-elect.

Planning the distribution of a possible vaccine against covid-19 – at a time when the vaccines from Pfizer and BioNTech and Moderna presented results that anticipate the possibility of administration to the general population -, is only one of the priorities for the beginning of Biden’s term, who will be the 46th President of the United States of America (USA).

The creation of three million jobs, in particular, in technological areas and associated with renewable energies, as well as the increase of the minimum wage to 15 euros per hour, are other intentions of the future Biden administration.

However, the executive of the still U.S. President is blocking the transition process, while Trump’s candidacy tries, at all costs, to reverse the results of the presidencies.

Electoral fraud perpetrated by Democrats and poor vote counting in several states considered “key” in the race for the White House, such as Pennsylvania, Arizona or Georgia, are among the arguments for the current head of state’s candidacy, but the accusations are “falling apart” for lack of hard evidence.

The target states have already refuted the accusations, but Trump prolongs the unfounded hints on the social network Twitter.

At the end of last week, Trump even admitted, during the first press conference after known the projections that give victory to Biden, that he may not be the winner of the elections.

Later, he came to contemplate this hypothesis on Twitter, but went back and accused the electoral fraud, declaring himself the winner.
