The symptoms of the Corona virus represent the severity of the viral disease attack on the body, and the occasional headache is the least common, but the question is is it different from a regular headache?
The main symptoms are a high temperature and a new and continuing cough, with a loss or change in the sense of smell or taste, according to the British National Health Service (NHS).
And research indicates that the potential effects of Covid-19 extend beyond these symptoms.
A scientific article published in Diabetes & Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research & Reviews sought to identify some of the less common symptoms of “Covid-19”.
Through recent studies, researchers found that headache is the fifth most common symptom of “Covid-19”, after fever, cough, muscle pain and shortness of breath.
The researchers noted that headache in the case of infection with the Coronavirus appeared in 6.5% to 53% of patients in recent studies.
They also explained that there are a number of “features” that can help identify headaches caused by “Covid-19”.
The research team revealed that the headache was characterized by a sudden onset to a gradual beginning and a weak response to the common analgesics “painkillers”, or a high relapse rate, and was limited to the active stage of “Covid-19”.
They concluded that “the spread of headache in Coronavirus infection seems to be not underestimated in terms of diversity and clinical description, because the current focus is likely to be directed towards patients with acute respiratory system.” According to Russia Today.
The investigation also highlighted the prevalence of gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea.
The researchers pointed to a systematic review and analysis of 6,064 patients with “Covid-19”, who reported gastrointestinal symptoms, and the combined prevalence of gastrointestinal symptoms was 15%, the most common of which were: nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite.
The authors report that about 10% of patients do not have respiratory features, but only present with gastrointestinal symptoms when infected with SARS-CoV-2.
How do you respond to the symptoms of “Covid-19”?
According to public health advice, if you have any of the main symptoms of Coronavirus, you should get tested as soon as possible.
You and anyone you live with should stay home and not have visitors until you get the test result.
And anyone in the support bubble should also stay at home if you’ve been in close contact with them since the symptoms began or within 48 hours before they began. The support bubble is a place where a person who lives alone “or only with their children” can meet people from another home.
