If you had a strong need to have fewer people around you last weekend at Berlin’s overcrowded Plötzensee or Krummen Lanke, you should take notice of this job. The place of employment is Neustrelitz. In the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District. One body of water joins the other. The old residential city offers historical architecture and lots of green anyway.

And the financial?
Do you know the abbreviation “TVöD”? That stands for collective agreement for the public service. But you don’t have to remember that, because it means above all: CASH, CASH, CASH. An editor rises to E11 at 3558 euros per month. There are automatic increases depending on experience. At level 4 (if everything goes well after six years in the job) it’s already 4600 euros gross.
Who do you work for?
The foundation for honorary office is supported by several federal ministries. Their goal is to “support volunteers as well as their organizations and to improve the framework conditions.” So be prepared for a somewhat rigid authority. And at the same time a lot of idealism. Exciting mix. All the better, because there is no tension here about what happens after the end of the contract: the positions are open-ended.
But Neustrelitz is already far out …
That’s true. On the other hand, it is only a good 90 minutes train ride to Berlin. And then there is this nice sentence in the advertisement: “The willingness to focus on your life at the Neustrelitz location is desired.” And: “The foundation enables mobile working.” A small room in Neustrelitz should be much easier to find than in Berlin. Neukölln!
