JK Rowling: annoyed by a Stephen King tweet favorable to trans people, she blacklisted

A new controversy for the author of the Harry Potter saga. JK Rowling deleted a complimentary tweet to writer Stephen King after he supported transgender women.

“Trans women are women,” the American novelist wrote without hesitation on Twitter, after being questioned by a surfer, reports The Independent. After posting this tweet, JK Rowling immediately deleted a previous message in which she wrote that her love for the master of horror Stephen King had “reached the heights”.

She added that “it is so much easier for men to ignore or belittle women’s concerns, but I will never forget the men who stood up when they did not need them.” Thank you Stephen ”. She also unsubscribed from her account.

A lively debate on social networks

She wrote these comments after sharing the writer of a quote from Andrea Dworkin, part of which said: “It is not hateful for women to talk about their own experiences, and they do not deserve to be humiliated for that.” Indeed, after being criticized, notably on social networks, following his statements on transsexuals, JK Rowling had then tried to justify himself by sharing on his blog her experience as a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault.

This awkward attempt displeased and sparked a lively debate, within his fan community, but not only, since the stars of the saga also publicly displayed their disagreement.

A Labor MP, Llyod Russell-Moyle, for example, accused the author of Harry Potter of using his story to justify his comments on transgender people. Llyod Russell-Moyle later apologized: “While I may disagree with some of her analyzes of shemale rights, I was wrong to suggest that she used her own experience appalling otherwise than in good faith ”.
