JJ Rizal Surprised that Taman Suropati Police Post Has 2 Floors: It’s a Cultural Conservation Area

Jakarta

Historian and humanist JJ Rizal was surprised by the circulation of a photo of a police post in the Taman Suropati area, Menteng, Jakarta, which changed its ‘face’. JJ Rizal received information that the police post which was built in the cultural heritage area was built into two floors.

JJ Rizal said development in the cultural heritage area should go through the trial process of the DKI Jakarta Restoration Session Team (TSP) first.

“Before construction, in order to obtain a permit, one must attend the TSP trial first and get a recommendation. Indeed, this disturbs the historical landscape that must be protected as mandated by the Cultural Conservation Law No. 11 of 2010. Moreover, the park is the heart of the Menteng cultural heritage area. said JJ Rizal to reporters, Monday (19/7/2021).

JJ Rizal explained, for development in cultural heritage areas, there are procedures. He questioned whether the construction of the police post had passed the legal stages or not.

“Development in cultural heritage areas has regulations. Well, in Jakarta there is a Restoration Session Team (TSP) formed by the governor as a team that must be visited and participate in the trial as a condition for building in a cultural heritage area, is this problem being carried out?” said JJ Rizal.

Confirmed separately, the Head of TSP DKI Boy Bhirawa explained that the construction of the two-story police post was problematic. Because, Boy continued, the construction process had not yet passed the trial process.

“Not yet through TSP. This discussion in WA TSP just yesterday, there was a photo, ‘oh yes, this is a problem’. This afternoon there is a trial after the trial what action will be taken,” said Boy.

He said cases of development in cultural heritage areas had been found at several points. Boy suspected that the construction without going through the trial was due to ignorance or intentional.

“Actually it’s not only that let’s go, many of the cases that currently appear are no longer through the procedure. There are several possibilities that they do not understand, do not know, or there is omission,” he said.

For this police post, Boy said the construction was carried out by the police. It is planned that this afternoon a TSP session will be held to finally provide recommendations.

“This afternoon there will be a trial after the trial of what actions will be taken,” explained Boy.

He also explained about the licensing flow if you want to carry out development in the cultural heritage area. The initial licensing process is at the DKI Jakarta One Stop Integrated Service and Investment Service.

“When there is a cultural heritage, then the permit is added to the process of a special restoration hearing for cultural heritage. Later you have to give a recommendation, if not, the permit is not issued. land), cultural heritage has its own rules for cultural heritage,” he said.

Police Explanation

The police gave an explanation for JJ Rizal’s astonishment about the photo of the police post in the Taman Suropati area, Menteng, Jakarta, which turned ‘face’. Police said the building was destroyed so it was eventually repaired.

“It was not changed or built, but yesterday the building was destroyed by a tree and could not be used, then repaired. The top is used as a prayer room for people who want to pray,” said the Menteng Police Chief Commissioner Rohman Yongky Dilatha when asked for separate confirmation.
