Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial among Manchester United’s four stars allegedly attacked by Newcastle after take-over

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in FOUR Manchester United players in January, but a former Magpies star has wondered why they aren’t targeting Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

The St James’ Park ensemble is now the richest club in world football after its acquisition for £ 305 million from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. [PIF].

The PIF is funded by Crown Prince Mohammaed Bin Salman, who has a net worth of around £ 320bn, and the Toon Army now dreams of how its new owners will make good use of their wealth.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Magpies are exploring the possibility of signing four United underdogs in a January raid at Old Trafford.

Those four players are reportedly Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly.

All four have struggled to buy playing time this season and with Newcastle being said to be ready to spend money in the next 12 months and beyond, St James’ Park could be a potential destination for the quartet.

However, former Newcastle midfielder Darren Ambrose says his old club must be more ambitious.

Bin Salman’s acquisition of Newcastle could see the club dominate the transfer market

The talkSPORT expert, who played 37 games for the club between 2003 and 2005, says they should fork out the money needed to sign the Tottenham striker Kane.

Kane wanted to leave the Spurs for the summer but, as no one was willing to pay the fee that owner Daniel Levy demanded, not even Manchester City, he stayed at the club of his childhood.

Newcastle may now have the purchasing power to spend the kind of money Levy may demand; whether the English international would want to join the Tyneside team is another question.

The north London club’s new transfer manager, Fabio Paratici, has even recently insisted that Kane “loves” Tottenham and will stay with the club to help lead its rebuilding.

But Ambrose insists his former team should try to make a move for the center forward, and fellow talkSPORT expert Rory Jennings added that such a move could “upset the whole balance of the Premier League.”

When asked about possible signings for Newcastle, Ambrose said on Sunday’s Boot Room show: “What about Harry Kane?

“Is it Manchester City, Chelsea, are they going to pay between 100 and 120 million pounds sterling in the summer?

“I don’t think they are. I think [Man City] Did it get close to £ 130 million this summer? Newcastle will. They will go up to £ 150-200 million. ‘

Jennings added: “Can you imagine the statement he makes to the Premier League?

“If Newcastle United take a Tottenham player, they take the player Tottenham said they wouldn’t sell.

“That would actually upset the whole balance of the Premier League as we know it, and I guess that’s what they are trying to do.”
