Jennifer Sumeraga: Award-Winning Jazz and Popular Music Pianist, Composer, and Vocalist

Jennifer Sumeraga is a jazz and popular music pianist, vocalist, composer, arranger and teacher, as well as a thirteen-time laureate of international competitions. Born on July 30, 1993 in Riga, Latvia. She has expressed herself in the field of music since childhood, graduating from the piano class of the Pāvilas Jurjānas Music School and the jazz department of the Riga Cathedral Choir School, majoring in piano.

At the end of 2008, Jennifer received a scholarship for the LTV campaign “Let’s help the talent!” at the final concert, as part of which he performed in the White Hall of the Latvian National Theater, playing the piano for an audience that included maestro Raimonds Pauls and Latvian President Valdis Zatlers.

In the summer of 2014, the musician participated in the jazz camp “sommerkursene.no” in Norway. However, in the spring of 2016, the symphonic poem “Mystery”, which Jennifer composed at the age of 17, was included in the world contemporary music exhibition “Musica con Vista” (translated from Italian – Music with a vision), where only 22 works were selected from 63 orchestral works , without age limit, bringing together composers from all over the world.

Jennifer has received the debut diploma of Radio SWH’s new music program “Priekšnams” “2016. veteran of the year” for the self-composed song “Love Is What Love Does”, which was on the top of the program for 30 weeks, as well as the musician performed at the big concert of the Radio SWH program “Priekšnams” in Latvia’s 1st Rokkafejnāki. In cooperation with RPIVA (Riga Academy of Pedagogy and Educational Management)

On October 17, 2016, the music video for Jennifer’s self-composed song “Vai Tu jūti” was presented. On the other hand, on June 21, 2018, Jennifer won second place in the jazz pianist competition “Il pianista sul Tevere” (translated from Italian – Pianist on the Tevere River) in Rome, Italy. Jennifer holds a BA and MA in Jazz Piano from the Frosinone Conservatory of Music “Licinio Refice” in Italy. Since 2020, the musician has been performing at events organized by VEF Culture Palace.
