Japan and South Korea are concerned, following North Korea’s test of what it says is its largest intercontinental ballistic missile. It is his first long-range test since 2017 and breaks the moratorium he self-imposed in 2018.
Pyongyang’s new missile is capable of flying about 15,000 kilometers, enough to reach the US East Coast or anywhere in Europe.
The projectile, launched from the vicinity of Pyongyang International Airport, fell in Japanese waters, about 150 kilometers west of the island of Hokkaido, making it the closest it has fallen to Japanese territory so far.
