Japan 2022 MotoGP Qualifying Results: Marc Marquez wins the pole

Marc Marquez will start at the forefront of the race MotoGP Japan 2022. The Repsol Honda rider was the fastest in the qualifying session, ahead of Johann Zarco.

The qualifying session of the Japanese MotoGP at the Motegi circuit, on Saturday (09/24/2022) afternoon WIB, has been postponed. The delay in qualifying was caused by the pouring rain which also canceled FP3.

The Japanese MotoGP qualifying session has just started at 4:10 pm local time or an hour behind the original schedule. Qualifying took place on a wet track.

Enea Bastianini who had to overcome Q1 crashed at turn 5 towards the end of the session. The Gresini Racing driver failed to Q2. While the two Pramac Ducati riders Johann Zarco and Jorge Martin continued towards Q2.

Maverick Vinales immediately fired at the start of the Q2 session. Johann Zarco then appeared dominant, recording the best times several times.

Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez doesn’t want to lose. Marquez also recorded the best time before being moved by Zarco again.

Marquez recorded the best time of 1 minute and 55.214 seconds when the Q2 session was less than three minutes to go. Zarco’s efforts to beat Marquez’s time towards the end of the session were in vain and they had to settle for second position.

Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) is pushed into third position at the end of the session. This will be the first time that Binder will start from the front row in MotoGP.

Out of the top five, however, the drivers currently in the running for the world title, namely Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro. Espargaro obtained the best result of the three by occupying the sixth position.

Meanwhile Quartararo will start from ninth position. Bagnaia who had many difficulties in the end had to settle for 12th place.
