Basically, Janin Ullmann has always been on stage. Even as a little girl, at that time still under her maiden name Reinhardt, she was dancing mariechen in the carnival club in her home town of Erfurt. In later years, the sporty young woman completed ballet training.
Career start at VIVA
But it wasn’t dance that should make Janin Ullmann famous. After graduating from high school, she decided to take part in a casting at the music broadcaster VIVA and was promptly selected from 3000 competitors. In the second step of the casting, she beat 25 candidates and won the live vote on the “Interactive” program. After a week of co-moderation, VIVA offered the natural talent a contract.
Janin Ullmann spent the following years at the popular music broadcaster and moderated shows such as the cinema magazine “Film ab”, the lifestyle program “Inside” and the live show “17”. Ullmann also made a name for herself as the presenter of the successful shows “Star Search – das Magazin”, “Top of the Pops”, “Bravo Super Show” and “Bundesvision Songcontest”.

With the years and growing experience in front of the camera, Janin Ullmann shed her image as a professional youth and switched to public broadcasting. The television woman completed a journalistic traineeship at NDR – after all, she had no training to date – and was hired there as a presenter for various programs. The program “Pictures of you”, which Ullmann had devised together with Norddeutscher Rundfunk, was even nominated for a Grimme Prize.
Janin Ullmann has now returned to private television and, in addition to her art and antiques show “Lieb & Teuer” on NDR, hosts great evening shows such as “Das Ding des Jahres” and “Time Battle – Fight for Your Time” on ProSieben.

In addition to many small roles in German film and television productions, she was seen in the ProSieben series “Was not fits, is made suitable” from 2003 to 2007 and from 2006 to 2007 she played the (double) leading role Lotta / Alex in the telenovela “Lotta in Love”.

Since her separation from her ex-husband Kostja Ullmann, the gossip columns have been concerned with whether Janin Ullmann is privately “in love”. For Valentine’s Day 2020, suspicious and ambiguous photos were circulating on Instagram that showed Janin with footballer Neymar. Neither of them have officially confirmed or denied a possible love affair. The moderator’s relationship status remains exciting.
