ANTWERPTheater and television maker James Cooke embarks on a new adventure. The new theater production house Backstage Productions is the amalgamation of Cooke’s previous production house ‘Excluded.’ and the friendly production house ‘Theatretainment’. “A logical step for two houses with the same vision, the same mission and the same values.”
The new production house Backstage was announced on Tuesday from the MAS in Antwerp. The two houses Excepted. by James Cooke and Bob Jennes and Theatertainment by Dirk Van Vooren and Nico Warrinnier have crossed paths several times in the Antwerp theater Elckerlyc. “This created a great mutual respect and this amalgamation is a logical consequence,” the quartet said unanimously.

“In a new outfit, from a new production house, but with familiar faces from the trade with packs of experience”, adds sales manager Nico Warrinnier. “The coming theater season will be one in which we can once again make dreams come true and entertain the visitors en masse.”
Margaret Hermans
One of those familiar faces is Margriet Hermans, the special guest for the upcoming winter revue of Backstage. “I’ve seen several revues in the past, a genre that I really love and now I’m really looking forward to playing in it myself,” emphasizes Margriet. “In a revue, the so-called ‘special guest’ must be able to put themselves into perspective, and that is precisely what I am so good at”, she bellows.
The performances of Backstage take place in theater Elckerlyc. The autumn program includes ‘Het Spook van de Operetta’, a hilarious farce by Luc Caals and Dirk Van Vooren himself, the ancient classic ‘Moord op de Orient Express’, ‘Winterrevue’ with Margriet Hermans, four ladies on an adventure in ‘Vapeurs 4 – On Safari’ and the family musical ‘Pocahontas’.
