Bond actress Lashana Lynch has finally officially confirmed what everyone else suspected: dating her character Nomi No Time to Die replaces James Bond as 007.
No, she will not be the new Bond, as was speculated for a long time last year. Daniel Craig’s replacement just become a man.

But in No Time to Die James Bond is already retired. In the meantime MI6 will of course be without 007, the internal code name for the secret agent. His replacement? Lashana Lynch’s Nomi.
Rumors already circulated last year that Lynch would indeed not be 008 or 009, but would actually take over the iconic codename.
But then it stayed with rumors. Only now has the actress confirmed the big news herself, during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
That magazine does not beat about the bush: “She stars as Nomi, the secret agent who inherits the 007 title while Bond herself lives in exile.”

Responsibility and hate
Something Lynch confirms in the same interview. It’s a role that comes with a lot of responsibility and online hatred, the actress describes. She even had to delete her social media. Still, she reminds herself it’s not personal:
“I’m a black woman – if it had been another black woman in the role it would have been the same conversation, she would have had the same seizures, the same abuse. I have to remind myself that the conversation is ongoing and that I am part of something that will be very, very revolutionary. ”
This confirmation makes what the latest trailer is for No Time to Die implied now finally explicitly. There we saw her as an equal to Craig’s Bond, together on a mission.

A refreshing dynamic, in which Bond is not the only knowledgeable secret agent. Nomi will want to prove herself and maybe even surpass him. If Lynch is still alive at the end of the film and is 007, we will hopefully find out soon.
Fans even have an absurd plan to do buy the whole movie from MGM.
