Jacques Anouma, candidate for the Presidency of CAF: “With my brother Augustin Senghor, we are thinking of a unique candidacy from West Africa”

Four applicants presented their candidacy for the elective general assembly of the African Football Confederation (CAF) scheduled for March 12 in Rabat, Morocco. In West Africa there are 03 candidates: the Ivorian Jacques Anouma, the Mauritanian Ahmed Yahya and the Senegalese Augustin Senghor. The latter had put forward the idea of a single candidate in West Africa to face the others. And now, another West African candidate is speaking out on this eventuality: Jacques Anouma.

The former President of the Ivorian Football Federation, who has been set up a Campaign Wise Committee by his Government, did not escape, during an interview with Sport Ivoire, the question of whether he It is not necessary to think of a consensus around a single candidacy from West Africa, the Ivorian does not rule out this possibility.

“I think you are going very fast. With my brother Augustin Senghor from Senegal, we are already thinking about this possibility. We think that the ideal would be for West Africa to go united. From the moment it is a common will, consensus will be achieved very slowly. But, it will not be done with a wave of a magic wand ”, he replied.

In addition, Jacques Anouma, questioned on the possibility of having the support of the legend of Ivorian football, Didier Drogba was optimistic on this issue. ” Do not worry. Didier Drogba was traveling and he has just returned this week. We had a very good interview last Tuesday to discuss this candidacy. I believe that things will be done in the days to come ”, he said.
