FC Barcelona on Atletico Madrid have the transfer of Antoine Griezmann completed at the last minute. The attacker comes over on a rental basis from Camp Nou.
Griezmann returns to the club he left in 2019. At Atletico he was the most important player, but at Barcelona he never really showed and he never managed to win the hearts of the supporters. The rental transfer includes a mandatory option to purchase – allegedly – forty million euros.
Because the transfer period closed at 00.00, the question was whether Barcelona and Atlético could make the transfer official in time. According to Sports world the Spanish federation has given the clubs an extra twenty minutes, although LaLiga denied that. Gianluca Di Marzio writes that the deal was submitted at 11:59 PM (!).
Barcelona paid Atlético €120 million for Griezmann in 2019, but the Frenchman will not go down as a successful purchase. He had a starting spot in the Camp Nou, but fit less in the game of Barcelona, also disappointed in the first games of the season and was whistled at Camp Nou.
