With Italy’s place in the round of 16 of the tournament already assured, coach Roberto Mancini decided to rest Locatelli and Barella against Wales.
It turned out to be a wise decision by the former Manchester City manager, as Italy won 1-0 in Rome, although Locatelli did not appear to have a great night on the bench.
With 69 minutes left, a smiling Barella decided to throw a bandage on Locatelli.
The midfielder, who has been linked to a signing by Juventus and Arsenal, was unhappy and threw the object back in his teammate’s face.
Barella kept smiling, but Locatelli remained serious, unimpressed by his colleague’s jokes.
Viewers have been laughing at the incident on Twitter, with a caption: “Locatelli found out about Arsenal links.”

The 23-year-old Locatelli has been one of the biggest stars of the European Championship, scoring two goals in Italy’s 3-0 win over Switzerland.
Sunday is the second time he has seemed disgusted at the tournament, copying Cristiano Ronaldo’s antics by pulling bottles of Coke out of a press conference.
Locatelli has made 96 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo since joining the Italian team from AC Milan in 2018.
The midfielder did not have many opportunities at San Siro, although he still participated 63 times in all competitions, helping them win the Italian Super Cup in 2016.
Meanwhile, Barella made 36 Serie A appearances with Inter last season to help them win the Scudetto.
