These are the figures for the last 24 hours regarding the epidemiological situation in Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain.
Italy
Italy recorded 23,225 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, a number higher than the previous day, and still a ‘record’ of 993 deaths, the Ministry of Health reported today.
The number of deaths remains very high, in line with the last few days, and the balance is 58,038 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic crisis, in mid-February. In total, 1,644,829 people were infected.
Pressure in hospitals continues to rise, although most of the 759,982 active cases are at home with mild or asymptomatic symptoms.
Lombardy is the region with the highest daily increase in cases, with this Thursday registering an additional 3,751 new infections. It follows Veneto with 3,581 cases and Campania registering 2,295.
United Kingdom
According to the British Ministry of Health announced this Thursday, the United Kingdom recorded 414 deaths caused by covid-19 and 14,879 new infections in the last 24 hours.
As of Wednesday, 16,170 new cases of covid-19 and 648 deaths had been reported.
The cumulative total since the beginning of the pandemic is now 1,674,134 confirmed infections and 60,113 deaths recorded within 28 days after the victims received a positive test.
According to this Thursday’s data, 15,236 patients are hospitalized, 1,351 of whom are in intensive care units (ICU).
Spain
The autonomous communities notified the Ministry of Health this Thursday, 10,127 new cases of Covid-19. The global number of infections in Spain has risen to 1,675,902 since the beginning of the pandemic, according to official statistics.
In addition, 254 people with a confirmed diagnosis of covid-19 died in Spain last weekend. The records indicate 46,038 deaths, victims of covid-19, since the virus arrived in the country, according to data from the Ministry.
The community of Madrid continues to be the region most affected by the public health crisis in the country in general, however the accumulated incidence over 14 days has been gradually decreasing.
The accumulated incidence in Spain (cases per 100,000 inhabitants) continues to decrease, currently standing at 249.89 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, since the beginning of the public health crisis that was not so low.
