Iapichino redemption: win again in the long run
It is the race of redemption after a dark start to the season for Larissa Iapichino: the 20-year-old daughter of art returns to win in the long jump with the best personal performance of the year, a 6.64 m with a light favorable wind. Of course, it is still a distant distance to which she had accustomed us before the injury that precluded her participation in the Olympics, still not ensuring the minimum for the World Athletics Championships a few weeks before the big event. But there are still important signs: if she had jumped like her in previous releases, she probably would have risked not even winning the title. Behind her, in fact, the not yet adult Marta Amouhin Amani stands out with a personal best at 6.51 m.
Vallortigara super: 1.98 m in the women’s high
Great protagonist in the afternoon of the last day of competitions at the Assoluti di Rieti Elena Vallortigara in the women’s high jump: the 30-year-old from Vicenza finds an excellent condition, exceeds the 1.98 m bar on the third attempt that earned her the best performance in the last four seasons. Second seasonal world measure for the blue of the Carabinieri, who immediately afterwards tries to cross the 2-meter wall already overcome in the “distant” 2018. He gets close to the first attempt and gives up after the second, but proves to be there in view of the next World Championships, targeting the 2.02m staff which still makes it the second best Italian ever. Behind the three times in a row Italian champion, Marta Morara and Erika Furlani finish in second position with 1.84 m.
Osakue queen of the disc
Daisy Osakue wins the women’s discus throwing trial at the Italian Championships by dispersion. The 26-year-old from Turin is close to improving the Italian record: a 63.24 m on the second attempt (63.66 is her personal and national record like Agnese Maffeis) is enough before committing all the other null pitches. Very low sizes for the others.
OSAKUE EQUALS THE ITALIAN RECORD IN THE DISC
Folorunso is close to the Italian primacy in the 400 obstacles
Ayomide Folorunso flies in the women’s 400 hurdles, stopping the clock at 54 “60, just six cents from the national record which has remained standing since 2013. Remarkable race of the athlete born in 1996, crossing the finish line with almost a second behind Rebecca Sartori (55 “43), third Eleonora Marchiando (55.69).
400 men: Scotti wins, anxiety for Sibilio
Edoardo Scotti is the Italian champion in a highly anticipated and spectacular 400 men. Great progression in the first half of the lap that allows him to take the lead and win the national title in 45 “69 (season best, four tenths from the staff), ahead of Vladimir Aceti for 22 cents and Davide Re for three tenths net. Concerns the withdrawal ofAlessandro Sibilio, stopped suddenly before facing the last corner: there is a fear of a muscle trouble for the Olympic finalist (in the obstacles), carried off the track in his arms. The extent of the injury in the next few days has to be assessed, but the impression is that the World and European Championships are compromised.
Not so far from the national record is Alice Mangione in the women’s track lap. Tri-color success in 51 “65 for the Sicilian born in 1997, very close to the staff made two weeks earlier and just over a second from Libania Grenot’s record that has persisted since 2009. Mangione exits in the final straight beating Anna Polinari (52” 33) and Virginia Troiani (52 “57). Fourth place for Raphaela Lukudo.
In the middle distance, a surprise victory for Ludovica Cavalli in the women’s 1500s, who puts her head in front of the most quoted on the card Syntayehu Vissa and Elena Bellò.
Kaddari still mistress of the women’s 200
Dalia Kaddari confirms for the third consecutive edition the tricolor in the women’s 200 meters, the only one to go under the 23 seconds barrier in the final. 22 “87 the chronometric confirmation of the 2001 Fiamme Oro athlete, close to retouching his outdoor seasonal record. At his side on the podium Vittoria Fontana (23” 24) and Irene Siragusa (23 “58). Among the men, on the other hand, Diego triumphs Aldo Pettirossi in 20 “54, in a final with no thick names.
Good Ponzio and Bruni
In the men’s shot put Nick Ponzio wins for the umpteenth time the direct clash with Leonardo Fabbri: 21.34 against 20.37, everything is decided on the third attempt. Fabbri can still come out satisfied despite the missed title for the return above 20 meters, the first time in this 2022 in the open.
