In recent weeks, many television viewers and sports fans have missed István Hajdú B. Hajdú from the broadcasts and studio programs, without whose voice and commentary, the matches of the Hungarian national football team and the matches of the Champions League were unimaginable in recent years. The popular sports reporter lost his job because
he had to spend two and a half weeks in hospital and underwent surgery.
The György Szepesi and Prima Primissima prize-winning commentator had a heart attack years ago, and now medical intervention was unavoidable, but there is no connection between the two. István B. Hajdú a sportal.husaid in an interview that he was aware that “something happens” to a public figure cannot be kept a secret for long. As he said, he doesn’t want all kinds of speculations about him to come to light, which is why he spoke out now. At the same time, he indicated: he doesn’t want a big fuss around him – still not.
“My illness, which I don’t want to say more about, came unexpectedly for me as well. After an examination, the doctors told me that surgery was inevitable. It’s a long process that I have to go through,” he told the portal. He revealed that
it was not a problem with his heart, the current surgery and his illness have nothing to do with his previous heart attack.
István B. Hajdú last broadcast on March 9, and he hopes that he will be able to sit behind the microphone again in the summer. It seems that, to the chagrin of many, he will have to miss the European football championship in Germany, but we can expect to hear his broadcasts again at the Paris Olympics.
