This Wednesday, the social network Twitter suffered a cyber attack without precedents which consisted of taking control of the accounts of personalities, politicians and companies to spread a fraud related to bitcoins.
Among the affected accounts were found Apple, Uber, Kanye West, Joe Biden, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Barack Obama, Whiz Khalifa, Jeff Bezos, Mike Bloomberg and Warren Buffett.
In numerous messages spread by those accounts, the people behind this hack asked users to deposit $ 10,000 in bitcoins, promising that twice as much would be returned.
Through a statement, the social network explained that it detected “what we believe to be an attack by social engineering coordinated by people who successfully addressed some of our employees with access to our systems and tools“.

Twitter noted that upon realizing the incident, the affected accounts were immediately blocked and the tweets posted by the attackers were removed.
