It turns out that there are 3 natural satellites besides the moon in the solar system, here is the explanation

Jakarta

moon hitherto known as the only natural satellite that moves earth. Apparently, in addition to the moon, there are other natural satellites in the solar system.

In the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), it is explained that a satellite is an instrument that is launched around the planet.

A report by detikEdu, the United States Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) notes that there are more than 200 satellites in the solar system.

So what are these natural satellites?

Quoting the official Instagram upload from SMP Kemendikbudristek Management (@ditsmp.kemdikbud), here are 3 natural satellites in the solar system besides the Moon:

Other natural satellites in the solar system

1. Titan

The first natural satellite is Titan. Titan is the largest satellite of the planet Saturn and is the only satellite that has been shown to have an atmosphere with important contents.

It is known that Titan’s atmosphere contains much more nitrogen – the same as on Earth. This satellite is also known to have many other characteristics, namely that it contains liquid on its surface in the form of rivers, lakes and oceans.

The liquid on Titan’s surface is composed of hydrocarbons such as methane and ethane. These conditions have led a number of scientists to conclude that there may be life on Titan, but its creatures are made up of different chemical compounds, unlike those on Earth.

2. Ganymede

The next natural satellite besides the Moon is Ganymede. Ganymede is the largest satellite of Jupiter in the solar system.

One of the advantages of the Ganymede satellite is that it is the only satellite that has its own magnetic field. The magnetic field causes auroras to appear frequently on Ganymede, bursts of light that shine around the poles.

This satellite was discovered in 1610 and managed to attract the attention of many astronomers to continue studying it. From the results of the research conducted, it was found that the atmosphere of Ganymede contains a certain amount of oxygen.

Even though it contains oxygen, scientists say the oxygen contained in this satellite is too thin for life to exist.

3. I

The next natural satellite is Io, which is the third largest satellite belonging to the planet Jupiter. This satellite Io has a very high volcanic activity caused by gravitational forces.

Scientists believe life will be difficult on this satellite due to continued volcanic activity accompanied by radiation.

Like Ganymede, Io always orbits on the same side of Jupiter. Due to the existence of this nearby satellite, the movement of the satellite Io is irregular.

So, those are 3 natural satellites in the solar system besides the Moon. We hope this information is useful and can add insights!
