It is wrong to think that the Covid-19 vaccine is of no benefit

TRIBUNJABAR.ID, JAKARTA – The government continues to socialize the importance of vaccines to prevent transmission of infectious diseases, including Covid-19. There are still many people who do not understand this, making socialization must be carried out continuously and sustainably.

In the Productive Dialogue with the theme “Vaccines as Health Preventive Planning” which was held by the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN), Monday (23/11/2020), dr. Dirga said that each vaccine has different effectiveness. However, vaccines will not be licensed if their effectiveness is low.

“For the Covid-19 vaccine, WHO has set an effectiveness of at least 50 percent. We hope that the existing vaccines will have a higher effectiveness than the figures set by WHO,” he said.

The importance of vaccines was also revealed by dr. Twindy Rarasati, a doctor who is also a Covid-19 survivor. He said vaccines as a means of public health intervention during a pandemic are urgently needed.

In addition to this disease being dangerous to health, he said, the symptoms of being infected with Covid-19 can be so minimal that patients do not realize they are infected. This has resulted in many Covid-19 patients being treated late or receiving treatment when their symptoms and conditions worsen.

“There are a lot of symptoms caused by Covid-19, therefore we are always aware of whatever our bodies feel. Don’t feel well because you don’t fever. Even though there are symptoms of being infected with Covid-19 outside fever, ”Said dr. Twindy.

Dr. Driga said it would be a mistake to think that vaccines are useless because vaccines train the immune system to produce antibodies. “One more vaccine has advantages that other prevention efforts do not have, namely vaccines provide specific protection,” he said.

Previously it was reported, the government is continuing to prepare for the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccine as a whole.

Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health Prof. Abdul Kadir, said that his party had sent a circular regarding the Readiness of Health Service Facilities in the Implementation of Covid-19 Vaccination.
